18 degrees......I'm tired of the cold!

Mom, this is for you:www.austinmission.blogspot.com

Where we live, it hasn't cracked above 28 degrees for weeks. For awhile there, it didn't even crack the double digits. I know I am not the only one suffering from the cold, but this is my blog so I will be the one that complains about it. Seriously, the snow is great for water, but you can have snow and have it be a bit warmer. Really. You can.

Enough of that. I have lots to catch up on. I finally have my new computer. It is pretty cool, but getting used to Windows 8 is rough. I don't like technology change. But, I am back! With pictures.

Kenzie is leaving in the morning for a humanitarian trip to Mexico with her school. They are going to a private school to do work down there for them. They are redoing parking lots and painting etc. They are also working in an asylum for men. The will work with the youth at the school doing other activities like quilt making, talent shows, firesides etc. When Austin went, Jay went too, but Kenzie has decided she wants to do this on her own. I am a bit nervous, but I have talked to one of the teachers who is going and she will help remind Kenzie about all her medications. That is the only thing that worries me besides finding her way through the airports. Well, I guess I should worry that Kenzie speaks French not Spanish, but I figure that will work itself out.

Alex transferred out of Spanish class at the semester. He and the teacher were butting heads. He started French today. The teacher was concerned that it would be hard for him coming into a foreign language class half way through the year, but Alex reported he learned more today (his first day) than he had all semester in Spanish. I think it is a good move.

Jay had his tests done. They said his heart looked much better than they thought it would. When he went in for the test his blood pressure was 180 over 120. They didn't even want to put him on a treadmill with pressure like that, but the cardiologist said for him to go ahead and he would stand by him in case something happened. I was pretty much freaking out at that point. In the middle of the test his blood pressure got up to 227 over 127. However, his heart looked good except for the left side of his heart wall was a bit thick and the tight atrium was mild to moderately enlarged. They did say he was a stroke waiting to happen. They have raised his blood pressure meds and will again in 2 weeks. They may even add a 3rd or 4th. They have to get it under control.

Alex is playing basketball and loving it. I cheer a little out of control. Jay hates to sit by me. I embarrass him so bad. I just can't help myself. Here are pictures of him playing. He is number 22. He has games every Tuesday and Thursday.

Also, here are some Christmas pictures. We spent it in Idaho with my family this year. It was great to be there. We had a family party the day before Christmas Eve. We had soup and salad and great desserts. My parents always do a fish pond dressed in Santa hats and give out funny white elephant gifts. They are great. We also have the little kids (Maylin and my great nieces and nephews) act out the Nativity Story.
Maylin is Mary,

Cute Claire is an angel. I love this girl!

Sheldon is Joseph. This is the little Great-Nephew that drowned a few years ago, but we were lucky he survived and is doing well.

This is Blakely. She is so cute and little.

My nieces and nephews with their babies that were born this year. The lady in the red is my sister in law with her granddaughter. Cute aren't they?
(Aaron and Stetson, Trent and Nels (my grandfather's name) Claudia and Henry, Chris and Hadley)

My brother in law takes a turn wearing Maylin's wig from fishy fishy.

My sister and I got hats.

Christmas Eve we made gingerbread houses at my sisters. We divided up into teams. Alex and I were together. Maylin and her little cousin Claire were together. They won. We were all amazed their house stood under the weight of A LOT of candy. They even put furniture inside their house. My nephew who is a firefighter did a house that was on fire with a ladder and a little fireman. Cute. That night we made our traditional sugar cookies and played charades. Man, Maylin was really good at that. I was surprised.

Maylin and Claire. I wish I had gotten a picture of the furniture inside.

This is Alex and I's house.

The girls made up a Christmas dance for us and performed it on Christmas Eve. It was so dang cute!

It was a great time. Enjoy the pictures.

Sending lots of good wishes for Jay's health and Kens will be well supervised, taken care of and will have an amazing experience. Love all your fun times over Christmas. I feel you on the cold. We don't have it as bad but still cold for us and I'm not loving either.
