A few weeks ago, McKenzie made a candy bar card for a boy in her grade asking him to the girl's choice dance at their school. He answered her back with a box of candy in which one of the pieces had an answer hid in it.
The theme for the dance was opposites. Kenzie and her tutor came up with the idea that she would go as Dairy Queen and he would go as Burger King. Jay and I divided the restaurants up, he took BK, and I took DQ. We both collected hamburger wrappers, cups, bags, gift card holders and crowns from BK to be used in the costumes.
I printed off large logos from the internet. Here Kenzie is trying to trace the DQ while I did the BK. It made her too nervous, so I did them both.....with her watching over my shoulder, I was pretty nervous too.
I think they turned out great. I wrote on the back of the t-shirts who they were: Burger King on his and Dairy Queen on hers. I also made them scepters from the items I collected and I decorated the crowns too. For his, I just made a larger logo, for hers I had to cover up all the BKs with DQs. Here they are ready for the dance.
We took Kenzie to pick up her date Clark, and then took them to where they were meeting the other couples for dinner. She reported they had a great dinner with chicken enchiladas and played lots of awesome games before heading to the dance. Kenzie said the whole night was a blast.
