Tuesday, March 5 was Maylin's 7 th birthday. She took cupcakes to her class. She wanted cupcakes with purple and blue frosting. I threw in some green too when I was making them. She also picked out a candy bar cake. Seriously, the easiest things I have ever made. She loved her presents. She mainly got clothes, but there was a Tinkerbell Barbie, Hello Kitty earphones, and a game for her leap pad mixed in.
I covered the frosting on top with M and M's so the Easter basket grass wouldn't get stuck in.
Yesterday as we talked about her birth mother, I got a little sad. I am so grateful, yet I feel badly that she is missing out on knowing this amazing girl. I hope where ever she is and whatever she is doing, she knows her baby is loved more than anything and we cherish her with all our hearts. We are grateful to her for this amazing gift!
Kenzie chose a Funfetti cake, but when she saw Maylin's cake she threw on a few candy bars. I made her Thing 1 and Thing 2 cupcakes. The cotton candy was a pain....not only to find blue, but it would melt on the cupcakes so I had to take off the melted stuff and reapply them at her school minutes before she handed them out. She got clothes, a necklace and a pair of earrings. She pretty much picked out all the clothes but two shirts and a sweater. I guess that is what happens when you are 17.
I can't believe they are growing up. I am pretty sad about the 17 year old. One year left. I hope she knows I love her. Where did the time go?
On Sunday we had Jay's nephew over for cake. I made a Hummingbird Cake! It was 3 layers. It was so good, but dang I have eaten so much cake. I love the girls having their b-days by each other, but it sure makes the cake and party thing hard for the mom.....and for all those who have to eat so much cake!
