JAWS

Da da Da da Da da Da da .... you thought this famous song went along with the infamous shark that terrorized the sea, but it actually belongs to Maylin Nini the sister who terrorizes her siblings with her 7 thrashing teeth. Yes, it is true! The darling little girl pictured has become a nibbler. It doesn't happen every day, just a couple of times a week. She only bites when her siblings try to pick her up when she doesn't want to be, take her when she doesn't want to moved, or touched when she doesn't want to be touched. Hard to keep three totally in love siblings from doing those things, so all have been victims. The sharp teeth have actually broken the skin on more than one occasion. Never had a shark in the family before. Any ideas on how to curb her new defense mechanism ? Of course she is so cute, she is always forgiven.

These are a few of my favorite things.

It has been three months since the photo on top was taken at Gotcha Day. How tired I look and how sad Maylin looks. That was a hard day for that sweet baby girl, but since then she has found joy and we have found more joy and happiness than we thought possible. Sometimes I can't believe its been 3 months. Other times I feel like we have always had her. She fits in so well. Below is a list of 10 of our favorite things about our 3 months together. 1. She giggles when you hug her, then she wraps her arms around your neck and squeezes back. That is pure love. 2. Her smile. She freely gives them and they are beautiful. 3. The funny faces she pulls. They crack us up. Our favorite is the one she makes when she is trying to raise her eyebrows and wink. Its so funny and amazing how hard she tries to get her eyes to do what she wants. 4. The way she looks when she sleeps. She is so small and so pretty. I love to watch her and I have for hours. 5. I love how she has turned all of us "bi...

I can do it myself.

You know your baby is growing up, when she starts trying to dress herself! She found her swimsuit and worked hard to get it on. Pretty good for a 15 month old. Pretty good since its a swimsuit. I can barely get mine on!

MTC Bound

Jason, my husband's nephew, flew to our town from Texas for a few days before he went into the Missionary Training Center. The Missionary Training Center is the place where men and women from our church go to learn a language and how to help/serve others while on missions. Jason will be working with the Spanish people of San Jose, California. It was a wonderful day. He was the first of my husband's family to meet Maylin. We were so excited. He really has grown into a great young man.

Forcast: Hot and Huggy

A trip to St. George for Jay's work and a trip there to see my nephew, his wife and my great nephew Crew (that makes me feel old), left us happy, but hot! The temp reached a sweltering 108 degrees! We kept cool by playing in the pool and by enjoying "Crewbles" amazing smile. Maylin was infatuated by him. She was always trying to rub his head, pat his arm or give him a hug. The top picture is Maylin going in for a hug. The second is SUCCESS! The third is, "Hey I can hug him better if I lay on top of him!" Don't worry she didn't hurt him. He is a tough kid and weighs more than her. The rest of the pictures are of us enjoying the pool! Thanks family for letting us crash! We enjoyed our visit.

Somersault and Cat Bowl

Today has been a day for adventure and trying new things. Some things we wish hadn't been tried, but it gave us all a good laugh. Maylin is a #1 copycat. No kidding. Monkey see, monkey do! We have been away for a few days, so when we got home we let in our cats for a few minutes. The kids poured them a little bowl of milk and Maylin was so fascinated with how they drank. She watched and watched. So this morning when we gave her her clean bowl with dry cereal in it, she put it down and tried to lick like the kitties do. I was mortified truly, even tho' I had a good laugh out of it. Next stop? The living room where she proceeds to do somersault after somersault. They were good too! I am amazed at how smart this baby is! We love her!!! Also a Congratulations goes out to my nephew Andrew . He received a call to serve and help the people of Costa Rica for 2 years! We are so excited for him. Guess what the main food staple is in Costa Rica? Give up? Its bananas ! And guess what my...

Hanging Out!

Today and yesterday we visited the Kennecott Copper Mine and the Thanksgiving Point Dino Museum. We played a lot and learned a lot. We enjoyed our days especially because of the family we hung out with! We felt small next to the dino bones and really small next to the big trucks and the huge open pit mine! The favorite was the "Erosion Exploration" at the Dino Museum. Maylin hated the wet sand, but loved the cool blue plastic aprons! She was also afraid of the big dino faces. Hey, who could blame her. Cousins Cooper and Alex made some great dino habitats. We also enjoyed some time at our house for lunch and fun "at the park" as Coop called our yard. (We have an acre.) Maylin loved her cousins. She loved to touch baby Mason and swing with Coop, but forget it if mom touched them. She let them know that mom was off limits! Please come see us again, our Colorado family!

Family

During the last two weeks, Maylin has seen her great aunts, great uncles, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and grandparents. Some for the first time! Here are a few pictures of some of those she has visited with. She liked them all, but didn't like it one bit when I held the baby (Mason) pictured in the first picture! We love you all and are glad for the visits.

Maylin is 15 Months Old

Today Maylin turns 15 months old. It feels bitter sweet to me. I am so glad we have her and enjoy every day that she grows, yet I wish time would slow down because I don't want to loose my baby to quickly. The bonding process has gone very well. It is as if we have always had her. She loves us all too. She prefers me which I hear is a good thing. She hugs her brothers and sister and gives them kisses good-night. When daddy comes home from work she squeals and runs to him. She loves to rub my hair when she is sick or trying to sleep. She feels at home and knows her way around and isn't shy to ask, or for that matter take, what she wants. The hardest part has been with eating. She doesn't eat much which worries me. She would eat Top Ramen and popcycles every day, but that's not to healthy. I am not sure what to do. Any suggestions? Maylin is happy 99% of the time. But she can pitch a fit! Wow!! That tiny body packs a punch.

I know I just posted, BUT

I had to share the cuteness!

Mountain Man Rendezvous

We also spent time Memorial Day weekend at the Mountain Man Rendezvous. It was very interesting. When we took Maylin away from the drums we entertained everyone nearby with a fit. The mountains were beautiful. We enjoyed our family and the day. (The bottom picture is of Maylin wearing a skunk hat.)
