Race results

From 600 hundred runners in the 5K, Austin placed 336 and I took 337. Our times were 36.27 and 36.32. We were not last, obviously! We did it!!!!! From 200 hundred runners in the Kids Fun Run, Alex my main man took 2nd!!!! He got a nice trophy! There was about an 1 inch of snow for our run and it was 31 degrees. I didn't feel cold until I got home. Now I feel chilled to the bone.

Poppin' in

This week has been wild. Can't believe it has been over 7 days since I posted. Kens and Maylin have both been sick. I feel like I am getting it too.....which I don't want for I am running/walking my first 5K tomorrow morning. I am nervous. I just don't want to be the last one. It has snowed and rained on and off this week, and the week before, and the week before that. Tired of it. Hope it doesn't for the race tomorrow. I am grateful we are not in the tornadoes. We send our prayers to the people affected by the natural disasters. Off to the school today for Alex's class. They have a special presentation on the Armor of God. Been to the school a lot as it is teacher appreciation week and I have been in charge of a couple of class activities. Maylin also had her kindergarten assessment. Not sure if I will send her or home school her. Driving 30 minutes each way for a half a day is hard, but so is homeschooling. Watched the royal wedding. It was nice. I still miss Prin...

10 little toes

Tonight Maylin stubbed her toe. She looked at me and said, "I hurt my little piggy." It was red so I kissed her baby toe. Not 2 minutes later she was crying again. Through her tears she said, "This time I have hurt my 'this little piggy went to the market!'" I am still laughing.

What does April mean to you?

For us, April is the month of oxymoron's. There are days of happiness, days of celebration for holidays based in miracles, birthdays of those we love and of course there is tax day. April 15 is a hard day around here because since we are self employed the whole tax thing is a pain, dread, death sentence, day of mourning....you get the idea. Well, this most cheerful day also happens to be my husband's birthday. It is also my beautiful niece's b-day. I am glad they (whether they are or not) were born on this day. It gives me something to be happy about on an otherwise pretty sucky day. Of course, Jay says it isn't to great to have his b-day on that day. He feels that trip to the post office dropping off the check is much worse than even turning older. For his birthday he worked, did the tax thing and then we took him out to dinner for BBQ...his favorite! You know you can never get the Texan out of a man. We then had cake and ice cream and he opened up his gifts. His favor...

We're BACK....and it was AWESOME!

Went away for Spring Break. Just for a few days because of Jay's work, but man....it was awesome. The snow followed us until 1 hour from our destination and then all we were left with was PURE SUNSHINE!!! It was so great. Our first day, we just stayed around at the house, ate great Mexican food (The kids ordered the grande meals....they were GRANDE! Plates bigger than two heads. Lot of left overs.), and swam. We also saw the movie HOP, it was so great. Maylin fell asleep during the first 15 minutes. It wasn't that it was boring...it was great....it was because we went to the 9:45 p.m. movie. What else should I have expected, but we were trying to cram something into every minute of our time. On day two we went to a great state park. We took some incredible hikes and enjoyed climbing on the rocks. Of course the kids enjoyed going high, and I enjoyed being nervous. I did get brave and I climbed into a hole in the rock myself.....okay, so since you can see the side walk at the bot...

Good book

I just finished reading The Wednesday Wars by Gary Schmidt. Thanks Circe for recommending it on your blog. It was so good I loved every word of it....no ifs, ands, or white feathered butts about it. The white feathered butt is a highlight of the story! The story is about a 7th grader and his family. It is so sweet, moving and thoughtful. I love how the author mixes Shakespeare's stories to help solve his characters' problems. It is a great read. I am starting Trouble today. It is from the same author. Spring break is coming. We are heading south for warmth....I hope. Last time we did that the snow followed. Dang snow. Hopefully this time it will stay put and we will only have sun!

From 72 degrees to this.....

Nice. Huh? Hope you can detect the sarcasm in that.
