8 and 18! Two BIG Birthdays!

The girls celebrated their birthdays' on March 5 (Maylin) and March 6th (McKenzie). Both milestone birthdays! In our church, children can choose to be baptized at 8. Maylin will be baptized on April 12. Of course, we all know what 18 means! On Maylin's birthday, she took fruit roll ups and juice boxes to share with her class. She also chose to go eat at Olive Garden. I made her a Sofia the First Cake. It looked cute, but I burned it so it really didn't taste goo at all so we threw most of it away. She got an Anna and Elsa doll for her b-day. She also got clothes. The big news was she got her ears pierced. It was touch and go there for a minute.....she almost chickened out. It made me laugh because she has been counting down the days until she could get them pierced and then she almost chickened out. We all were there as we did it on our way to dinner. It took all of us to convince her. We all knew she would regret it if she didn't. She loves them now. I boug...

Super fun

My girls had birthdays last week. I want to publish those, but don't know how to get them off my phone. So, until then here are a few fun things we did a few weekends ago. I bought the whole family except Maylin, tickets to see Brian Regan, a comedian. However, there was a school dance that night and Kenzie had a date and Alex just had to go, so we took Austin (and a date) and Maylin. Maylin, slept through it, but the rest of us laughed our heads off. He was great. The crowd was packed. This picture was taken about 20 minutes before start time. The dance was movie theme characters. Here is Alex and his friend as beach dudes from jaws. Kenzie and her date were from Napoleon Dynamite. That is an easy one to tell. Everyone had a good time. It is hard as your kids get older to actually get to do something together. Too many activities!

St George for President's Day

We love to go to St. George for President's Day weekend. It is a great time to get out of the cold, see my parents who are living there this time of year, see the awesome home show they have there, and this year see Tom and Kathy. It was also perfect timing as it was just before Austin's surgery. It was a time where he could be in the sun, since he had been sick and we were hoping it would help him be completely better before surgery and it would be a nice break before his sore recovery. Tom and Kathy were in Vegas over that weekend so we got to hook up with them, even if it was just for a day. Austin was so happy to see them. It had been two years. We went with them to the home show and out for breakfast and Mexican food. We also had a hilarious time playing games that night with them and with my parents. My mother was cracking us all up. We also spent time in my parents' pool. Maylin is a fish. On our way out of town, back to our home, we stopped and did a hike I fo...

Austin's surgery

Austin was scheduled to have surgery February 19 to replace his defibrillator. However, he got sick and they had to postpone it to make sure his lungs were good. We were getting a little nervous as his battery was pretty close to being dead. Luckily, after a chest x-ray and a complete exam, they were able to reschedule for February 24. This was perfect. It was enough time to have him be healthy, yet soon enough we weren't falling off the edge of the battery cliff. McKenzie and Alex were horribly sick. Coughs, sore throats, body aches, ear aches etc for weeks. We did our best to keep Austin away from them. I was just in a constant panic every day wondering if he would get sick. I was so relieved when we got to the hospital and he was good to go. Austin wasn't worried about the surgery itself, just getting an IV. He was pretty worked up about it so the doctor promised him they wouldn't do the IV until he was asleep. Austin reported later that he fought them when he starte...
