Happy Chinese New Year.....a little late!

We celebrated Chinese New Year on time, I am just posting late. We had a great celebration. We went to our yearly party with our UV group. We had dinner, made crafts, played games, watched a play and had a parade. In the play, they did the story of the Zodiac. Maylin got to be the rat by virtue that she brought mouse ears and no one else had a costume. She did awesome! Definitely the star. The kids had fun making fortune cookies out of foam. Austin made a fortune and gave it to a girl asking her out! Yes...it was Maddie from the awesome Brown family. It was a fun evening full of friends! Maylin enjoyed seeing Anna again. They are definitely getting together again. Maylin was the end of the head so I really couldn't get a picture of her. I tried, but I just kept getting the ruffles or her shoes. Maylin and Anna

State Basketball Champs in the Private and Charter School Division

Alex wrapped up his JV season this week with tournaments. They won every game this week and found themselves in the championship game against Syracuse Arts Academy. They won! First time for the JV boys at our school. It was a hard fought battle. Alex acored the first 5 points of the game.   They ended up winning by 14. Alex had 5 points, 14 rebounds and 4 fouls tonight. Last night he had 18 points, 14 rebounds and 1 foul. Night before he had 4 points, 20 rebounds and 0 fouls. First night of tournament he had 11 points, 14 rebounds and 0 fouls. He had a great season. After the game the team and their families came over to our house for a big pizza party celebration! It was awesome. His friends from his teacher's quorum came too. Lots of support. Mom, did some serious cheering and dad was so nervous he stood up in the corner the whole game.

Corpus Christi

We drove from San Antonio to Corpus. It was about a 2 hour drive. We met Jay's parents there as well as his brother's family. The kids were so excited to see their cousins. We stayed in a hotel where our rooms were close to each other so the kids could be together as much as possible. On the first day, we drove to the beach. The kids were so excited, but because it was so COLD, it took a lot of the fun out of it. We walked down the beach in our winter attire and found some star fish. The plans the kids had to go swimming were dashed, but we still had fun. We ate lunch at Moby Dick's. The sea food was great. After lunch, the boys (Carson and Alex) bought and surf boards. They were determined to get int he water even if it was freezing. We went back to the beach and walked down a jetty and watched the barges come in. It was pretty cool. We also found a lot of shells. Boots and a hat on the beach....her coat came out later. Trying to enjoy the cold beach. Maylin d...

The last fling in San Antonio

On our last day in San Antonio, before heading to Corpus Christi to meet my husband's family, we were hoping for warm weather. Well, the morning was NOT warm. It was so cold. However, we are not the family to waste time, so we bundled up and grinned and dealt with it. We went to the Fort Sam Houston Quadrangle. In this area, Geronimo was actually held prisoner. To help him feel comfortable, they brought in deer and peacocks to help him feel at home. Even all these years later, their are still deer and peacocks.....obviously not the original ones! They are so used to people that they come right up to you and eat out of your hand. It was awesome. Here is Kenzie in front of the clock tower. It used to be a water storage facility. You can see a feathered friend coming her way.  Hello birdie! The animals really liked Kenzie. They came to her more readily than the rest of us. Here is Alex trying not to freeze to death. This bird ate right out of her hand! ...
