First Day of School - August 27, 2012

Monday, Aug. 27 was the first day of school. It was an exciting day. Everyone, but Alex was a bit nervous. Kenzie was worried about her schedule, it had to be changed and she hadn't seen the updated version yet, and seeing friends again and meeting her teacher. She is new to the school and even though we met together during the summer to go over her learning needs, Kenzie was still nervous. Maylin was worried about P.E. and choir. I was worried about what I was going to do all day from now on, without a single kid. I was also worried whether I would be able to hold back the tears as I let me baby go to school. I did pretty good until I realized I didn't get a shot of all 3 of them together in front of the school like I have every other year. I also realized Austin wouldn't be in them and my baby would be. That started the "My family has changed and is changing" tears. At least I got two of them together! Aren't they cute? Her desk....with a look of...

Dirty dash

I signed up for a Dirty Dash called "Kiss me dirty.".....yeah, yeah, weird name.  This is a 5k obstacle course in the mud. It was to raise money for women's cancers. I was on a team with 5 people I knew from Zumba class. The others on my team, I didn't know. I was pretty nervous about it. There was only one other lady on my team that was close to my age. The rest were in their 20's or 30's. However, they all assured me it was for fun; not to win. They were right!!!! It was so fun. I did really well though. There were only a few women on our team a head of me. I led the larger group, but who could really say who led when you spent most of your time in muddy tires, climbing over fences, over huge dirt hills, going in and out of tubes, and over rope pyramids and through mud puddles! It was a blast. I think we spent more time throwing mud at each other or pulling each other down into the mud. I will say, people were pretty nice to me and left me pretty much alone....

First grade jitters, a stress fracture and Rock Center on Mormons

Today was meet the teacher day at school. Maylin was super excited to see her teacher. She loves her. When we were sealed to Maylin in our LDS Temple 6 months after we brought her home, a first grade teacher at my kids' school worked at the temple. She saw we were coming in to be sealed and switched her schedule so she could be working that day in the nursery. In the nursery they help the kids get ready in white and they take them up to the sealing room to be with their parents. The kids were thrilled to have someone they know help them and ever since then, Mrs McNamara has taken a great liking to Maylin. They have been friends from that time on. So Maylin was thrilled to have her as a teacher. I think we both (me and Mrs. McNamara) requested each other for school! Maylin was thrilled to be in her class today. She picked out her desk. It is on the front row next to a little boy James. He is about a head and a half shorter than Maylin. He was cute and they talked for a nano sec...

A day with my girls

Alex was at boy scout camp a few weeks ago so I took the girls out on a few adventures. One day we went to this awesome little cafe. It is in a little house and furnished in antiques and the walls are pink with little white curtains with pink rose buds on them. The food is very girly. I have only seen a couple of men there and I am sure the wives made them be there. Its not a steak and potato place at all. It is a quiche, fancy salad, soup and fancy sandwich place. I mean they are gourmet, darling and REALLY good.  Just not a man's place, it you get what I mean. The desserts are incredible.....darling too. After our incredible lunch; Maylin had  fire roasted tomato soup with a turkey, avocado sandwich. I had an awesome Thai chicken won ton salad with a cheese, sprout and I don't know what else pile of goodness. Kenzie had a quiche with a salad with pears and Gorgonzola cheese...... we all had desserts and that is desserts wi...
