I needed a break so off to Hidden Falls

By the end of August, I was pretty ready for things to get back to normal. Yes, I did take the girls to a waterpark/picnic one day and to a craft class another, but that was pretty much it. I love the outdoors and I was dying to get back into it before fall came. Alex was pretty much back to normal by the end of August. He still couldn't go far, but I found an amazing hike that was .4 miles round trip. It was to a water fall called Hidden Falls. We took his friend Harrison, just in case something happened and I needed someone to help me. We stopped at Chick-fa-la and got dinner for a picnic. The drive there took longer than the hike. You pretty much park, walk across the road and down a little path and there it is. Harrison told his mom he wouldn't consider it a hike, his driveway was longer! We got there and ate....really not a place to sit so we leaned on rocks. Alex decided he wanted to get his sister and friend wet. He succeeded with his sister, but he forgot he wasn'...

Art

When Alex was able to put weight on his legs he wanted to do something. Anything! He was bored out of his mind. He has his art studio in our garage so he went out for an hour and did some painting. This is all done with spray paint. I think it is phenomenal; especially when you consider he is colorblind. This one below is my fav.

Happy Pioneer Day...a day late

On July 25th, two days after Alex's surgery, we went to Thanksgiving Point for a concert. We didn't get to do anything on our state holiday, so the day after we left Alex home, he was asleep anyway, and went for a short evening out to celebrate pioneer day. Austin and his friends and roommate met us there. We sat on the lawn and watched a big band concert and then had fireworks. It was fun. The weather was perfect. The lighting and waterfall in the background was fabulous to go along with the old-time music. I called and checked in on Alex and he was just snoozing away and didn't even know we were gone an hour and a half. Jay's knees were so bad he was on crutches and the venue took him to the concert in a golf cart. They even picked him up after to take him back to the front gate. He was so excited for his upcoming surgery. He was tired of being trapped in an old person's body. Now, post surgery I am not so sure if he would be so eager. It has been a really painful...

Much needed mother/daughter time

With all the attention Jay and Alex got this summer, I decided the girls needed some time. McKenzie and I signed up for a class in August at Thanksgiving Point. We spent the evening making personalized table runners. It was Kenzie's first time at a sewing machine and my first time in about 10 years. We had a great time. It was getting dressed up to go, visiting, learning and being together without someone asking for help or needing something. We love our table runners, but both of us have decided they are too pretty to use! I also took them to a water park. We stayed for about 3 hours. We had a picnic at the park too. They loved playing on the old fashioned merry-go-round thing. You know the ones from my childhood. It was a lot of fun. Maylin and Kenzie had fun being together. They are such sweet sisters. Maylin also got some time alone with mom....if you can call it enjoyable....at the orthodontist. She has had some teeth grow in in positions where teeth should not be! She w...

Lisa Falls

A few days after we got home from St. George and after Alex was feeling better, I wanted to go on a hike for family night....it would be our last chance before knee surgeries. Because Jay's knees were so bad, I found a .6 mile (That is ROUND trip) hike in one of the canyons near by. We hiked it, Jay was the last one up, and explored the surroundings, waded our feet, and Jay laid on a rock for awhile. It was short and sweet, but very beautiful. The waterfall looked as if it was going sideways down the mountain. After the hike we went on a little drive up the canyon and then went out for yogurt. This exploration scared me to death! My breath was held until he got down. Can you see him up there.....he is such a boy. We wore Jay out.....his resting spot. My sweet baby girl.
