Kindergarten Graduation and Happy B-day to ME!

Okay, so on June14 Maylin Graduated from Kindergarten. I haven't posted it because I couldn't get the photos off my phone. That truly seems to be the only camera I have been using lately. My hubby has been out of town more in the month of June than he has been home, no joke. He finally was home to get the photos off. Yeah!! Since we are so excited to share Maylin's special day with her. Graduation was so funny. Really, the parents were in stitches. The kids were so funny. I am not sure what was up with them. Maylin was really casual about the whole thing. I guess because she was home schooled and didn't do kindergarten everyday, she didn't realize this was a big thing. I told her to get dress in a nice dress or outfit, but she came out in this top and jeans with holes. She said she liked it the best so I wasn't going to worry about it. If she was happy then I was happy. It wasn't until afterward when we were leaving she said, "I guess I should have d...

Glass blowing-updated

This week while Kenzie was on trek (post about that later), me, Alex and Maylin went to a glass blowing class. We watched them make a plate....it was amazing. Then they took us in and they talked to us about the heat, how glass melts/solidifies, how to add color etc. They showed us the steps to make a glass flower and we picked out our colors. There were two guys there to help us. I do have to say that when you are pulling the glass, it gets really hard to pull and takes a lot of strength as it cools down. When it is really hot, it is easy to pull. The glass starts out at about 2100 degrees. It cools down quite fast. Anyway, we had a good time and our flowers turned out beautifully! Once finished, they put them in a cooling thing and they had to cool over night. When we went the next day to get them the glass was still at about 200 degrees so they wrapped them in newspaper and told us to keep them in my warm car outside for a few more hours. This is Alex pulling the petals of his ...

Things I thought I would never do.

I know this is long, but it is worth the read. It is pretty funny. At least I think so. Since Jay and Alex are away, the girls and I went to Idaho. We went to play and to help my parents. We put down ant killer for them, tried to fix a sink, but that was over my head and cleaned. They showed us a good time for our efforts! They watched Maylin so Kenzie, her friend and I could go hiking a couple of times. They also took us to an awesome play in West Yellowstone at the Play Mill Theater. I do have to say, that I did create an enjoyable and memorable time for ourselves too. Here's what happened. Let's just say that I was laughing hard at myself and the situation.....so feel free to think I am dumb or have bad luck. I certainly think that. We got to my parents cabin early evening Monday. Once there, my dad discovered he didn't have his stroke medicine. I called local pharmacies, but no town that was close had the right drug. I finally found a small town about 40 minutes a...

I know, I know...two posts in a day!

Kenzie tried out for a play in town. She was made an extra, but at her last practice the director told her she wanted her to have a main part! She was thrilled. She will play an English explorer and will talk in a British accent. She has lots of lines and two solos! You can only imagine how happy she is. She looks so great! (And don't tell her, but the older she gets, the more she looks like me.) She had a performance yesterday as a promo for the play. This was as an extra....as she still will do that part too. She was great in the dance and song number. Here are some pictures in her extra costume and during the performance. We had such a busy day doing the play, working in the yard, going to 3 weddings, shopping at the new AMAZING mall the near-by big city, and eating at The Cheesecake Factory that Maylin was too tired to make in past the hard, wooden bar stools in the kitchen! Crazy. By the way, on their skinny menu, the Island Chicken is wonderful for under 5...

Protein- Table update

Alex and Jay are in Washington DC/Virginia for the kids' schools' annual trip. Kenzie went a couple of years ago with Jay, but this year it is Alex's turn. They are having fun. Got a text from Jay tonight that said: Alex is catching fireflies in his water bottle. Alex ate a firefly for $5.00 Alex is worried his poop will glow. Alex said it glowed in his mouth. All I could say is, "That is so Alex!" At least I know he ate protein this week. Also, I took your advice and went with my gut. I got the two-toned table. The chairs will be in the brown like the top of the table. I picked a great tan with green striped fabric. The table will be here in 13 weeks! Thanks for your help!!! Sometimes it is nice to have someone tell you to go for it!

Summer fun begins

Friday we took the day easy. We slept in, did chores and played with friends. Saturday we went to a local waterpark. Maylin wanted to go on the big slides....and SHE DID! I was surprised. She went on one tube that was enclosed (dark) and went almost straight down. It was shocking. She said it was great. I stayed in the lazy river. I only did one slide. My kids said the slide I chose was for wussies. Whatever. Jay slept sitting up in a lawn chair. Mouth open and everything. I took a picture, its on his phone. I will get it and post it later. I sent it to his brother and he replied, "Is he dead?" Kinda looked that way. Today, Alex had a friend party at a water park about 30 minutes from our house. Maylin went to Kindergarten and the kids and I went to the gym and ran. Then we picked up Maylin and headed to the water park. Instead of going home while Alex played, the girls and I hit the two near-by malls and did some shopping. Maylin always picks the trashiest shoes. She picke...
