The Zoo, a church and finally trying to catch up.

Back in June, we did a few field trips, but I have been so wildly busy I haven't put them up. Here they are. I know you were waiting to see what we have done, and I know I needed to get it down on "paper" so I didn't forget. It may be too late. I may have already forgotten the details. One thing I won't forget was the show we provided at the zoo. Maylin started the day off pretty mad when the ride to the zoo took 25 minutes rather than the 5 minutes she had in her head. There was a lot of crying and she said something like this over and over.... "if I knew it was going to take this long, I wouldn't have come. I just want to go home and forget the zoo." We were already 17 minutes into our journey, so I told her to suck up her tears and have a good time anyway and next time she could stay home. Nice. I know. She cried the rest of the way there. When we got there she had fun the first 10 minutes and then decided she was hot. She just dropped to the...

Love of her life

This is Kye. Maylin's favorite play toy in the world! He is Jay's great-nephew. He and his parents have moved in with us while they are building a house. Maylin thinks she is in heaven with Kye around. She constantly wants to play with him. He loves her back fortunately. He gets so excited when he sees her. They have a screaming game that they do together. It is pretty funny since he is a very quiet baby until he and Maylin get going. Sometimes, however, she does get jealous. With time that is going away. We see it less each day. At first,  when we would tell him he was cute or when we would pay him too much attention, she would go off and pout and say we didn't love her anymore. I am hoping the jealous will go completely away as he is here longer. We sure think they are cute together.

Opening night

Kenzie is in our community play. Tonight was opening night. She is in the chorus and plays Patricia.....an English explorer. The play is Crazy For You. She did amazing. She had 3 costume changes, but I only could get a shot of one. She did awesome in her character, her face was animated, her accent right on and her solo was perfect. There was only one dance she messed up on, but that was because they changed her stage position and direction right before she went on stage. I think she's a star! She is so pretty too.

Pictures from Austin!!!! Finally!!!!!

It has been months since we got pictures, but we finally did this week! Yeah. It was so good to see him and those he is with. Makes me feel comforted to see him in the places he lives, teaches and works. It really is hard not to be able to talk to him. Two phone calls a year is rough, but I understand why....the church has this rule so the missionaries are focusing on their work, not families and home life. I do get it, but it is hard. I live for weekly letters! This is Austin with his companion Elder Bradford and Carlos J. that they taught and baptised. He was baptised in May. Here they are after the baptism. With some more friends, and Carlos at a dinner after the baptism. This is one of Austin's favorite members. He calls Austin, Elder Hills. I don't know who this is. Austin didn't say, but there are a lot of pictures of him. Glad he is making friends. They caught this black widow in their apartment. Thanks for sharing. ...

Another hike....this time the WHOLE family went

We have been out of town so I am behind. I will post about our excursion soon, but first our hike. Last Monday, July 2, we went on a hike for family night. It was so fun. It was only a mile each way and it was supposed to be easy, or so the Internet said. Alex and I thought it was easy after our hike last week, but their was an incline so Jay was sure we had lied to him about the difficulty of the hike. There were TONS of people on this hike. Lots of families with small children so I assured Jay the hike really was easy in perspective. We took in Subway sandwiches and sat by the Cecret Lake once we arrived at the top. It was beautiful. There was still snow around it in some spots. At one end there was a huge deep drift of snow that kinda overhung on the lake. There were a bunch of crazy teenagers in their swimsuits, sledding (some on sleds, others just on their bodies) down the snow and into the water! You know the snow was cold and based on the water coming from the snow me...
