Another sad, sad trip to the dentist.

Maylin has terrible teeth. She has had four root canals, thus four silver teeth, several cavities, and shark's teeth. The shark's teeth were when the permanent front teeth came in, but the baby teeth were going NO WHERE. They had to be pulled. A year a go she had an infected tooth. Her check swelled up, it hurt, it looked gross. We were able to stop it with antibiotics. Last month, she got another one on the other side of her mouth. This one also cleared up with antibiotics, however, the first one got bad again and wouldn't clear up so Friday afternoon we made a trek to the dentist. She really doesn't like them. Don't blame her. They pulled the tooth. She didn't cry for the shot, but cried while they pulled it and all the way home, well until she fell asleep on the way home. They will put in a spacer in two weeks. We are watching the other one to make sure the antibiotics really worked on that one. Poor baby. The dentist made her a balloon butterfly whi...

A new color palette.......

After months of waiting, my new table is here!!! They delivered it yesterday. I do have to say that I love it. I really love the fabric I choose for the chairs, although I am worried about the kids eating on padded chairs. I picked the heavy duty, cleans up well fabric, so hopefully I am okay.  I think it fits my space better than the oblong one I had before. I have more walking room. It is a nice change!  Kenzie is also wanting to update her room. She says the yellow flowers and her name on the wall is little girls. She said at 16 1/2 she knows her name and wants something more updated. She wants to go with the "Paris" theme. We have found some great accessories. The paint choice has been the issue. I wanted to go blue since she will be going to college in a 1 1/2. I thought blue could go into an office. She wants hot pink.  I think this is darling! How could she have gotten too old for his? When did it happen?  Here are some of th...

Fall Break is over

My kids' school had their fall break this week. They had Thursday, Friday and today (Monday) off. Because of football, we couldn't go anywhere. We did go to the mall one day before practice and to a movie the next day before practice and on Saturday after the football game,we went to a b-day party and the kids (except Maylin) went to a haunted circus. Which by the way, they thought was totally devilish and have decided maybe Halloween if portrayed that way is not on their favorite list. Pretty proud of them for coming up with that on their own. Anyway, Jay got called out of town on Sunday for work. I decided fall break could not end without some hooray, so I packed up the kids and we drove 20 minutes away to a hotel where we vacationed for less than 24 hours. We got to the hotel Sunday afternoon. Because it was Sunday we just walked around the city, but we did have a great dinner. We made sure we were back in our rooms in time for Once Upon a Time.....the...

Goulash

Goulash is a stew made of meat and assorted veggies. I guess we had that for dinner. I made corn bread to go with it, but I used cheap muffin papers and they stuck to them. You could eat the tops and the middles, but there was no way the sides were coming off the papers. It was a disappointment. However, the goulash, or beef stew was really good! The evening really cooled down, so it was nice. I also feel like my life is Goulash. Kind of a fun word to say. I feel like each day brings an assortment of veggies  something. I went on a field trip with Maylin last week. I was over 5 little 1st graders, until the end when a dad had to leave so his little girl was added to my group. She cried when he left. She cried for the next 2 hours. It was a party. I felt like I was herding cats around. One little boy was hysterical. He wore a moose hat the WHOLE time. He said since there weren't any moose in the zoo, he wanted to be one so people could see a moose at the zoo. He was funny, but ten...

Fall Hike

I have wanted to go see the fall leaves this year. So last night for family night, we went on a little hike near by that took us through the leaves. We got on the trail late because Kenzie's homework took longer than thought and we got on the wrong trail at first, so we really didn't get to go far before nightfall. Despite this, the leaves were wonderful! Maylin is working on a habitat for science, so she brought along a box and we collected sticks, rocks, and leaves for her project. The weather was perfect. The leaves were gorgeous. The pictures do not do them justice. Jay recorded much of our conversation on the car ride to the hike and on the hike as we seriously sounded like a dysfunctional family. Everyone was talking over the other, interrupting, calling names, on their phone (Jay and Alex) or wandering off. If was like being in a basket with a bunch of cats. It was crazy. On the hike, Jay played back his recording and the kids about died over how they were ac...
