Mole results and the LAST days of school!!! Yippee....

First things first; the MOLE. Doctor called today and while it is not cancerous (Hip hip hooray), it is very abnormal. Being filled with abnormal cells, the mole has a tendency to become cancerous in the future. SO, the doctor wants Alex to come in next week and have more skin and tissue removed around the area to insure they got it all. Alex is thrilled....sarcasm. The doctor said it would only take 45 minutes. That blew Alex over. The first time it only took about 5 minutes, so he is a bit nervous of exactly how much and what they are taking out. I told him it is better to be safe than sorry. Second, though I love, love, love my children's school....I am also happy it is over. I really think I over did myself. I am tired. So a nice break is very welcome. Here are some pictures of our final days. Here is Kenzie at her last soccer game in playoffs. I think I mentioned they lost. I was happy about it. I just didn't have the energy to fit in one more game into another busy da...

Blessing

Got a letter from Austin today. You know where to go to read it. He had his first baptism. It was such a wonderful experience for him. He had such a great learning experience. As a mom, you gotta love that. Worked for about 38 hours on DVDs for the kid's school's graduation. I did them last year for Austin's and they asked me to do it again. Holy banana.....lots of work. At least they are done. Okay, I have to burn 27 plus copies so the graduates, teachers and administration can have a copy. I will be up late. Had my nephew over for a holiday BBQ. We went and took flowers to my grandparents' graves. Now we are just hanging out, okay so the kids are. I am doing DVDs and Jay is cleaning the garage. I am so ready for school to be over. They get out on Thursday!!!! Looking forward to having a break from homework-what a blessing!! Made an awesome cake for the holiday! I made a white cake, and poked holes in it and then poured strawberry jello over it. That chilled for ...

Like sands through the hour glass.....

Time is seriously flying by. I know I have said that before, but this time I really, really, really mean it. Been crazy busy with end of school year activities and normal life. Funny how normal life doesn't slow down just because LOTS of other things are coming at you. Maylin and I had the opportunity to go with Kenzie on a High School Field trip to the sand dunes. We still are finding sand in our house somewhere. Tenth through 12 grades went. It was an 80 minute drive one way. I had 3 girls plus me and Maylin on the way there. Kenzie and the girls were a bit perturbed we didn't have boys in the car. We had a great time at the field trip. Came home with LOTS of SAND in our clothing/hair/fingernails/crevices/teeth etc. did I mention that? Maylin played with a little boy who the 12 grade teacher adopted from the Marshall Islands the same year we adopted Maylin. They had a great time! By the way, three boys joined us for the ride home, much to the ...

A BIG sleep

Maylin fell asleep last night at 7:30. She slept until 9 this morning! That is 13 1/2 hours! (Circe - thanks for pointing out my math error. You know what is so funny? I knew it was 13, but for some weird reason I didn't write that. I guess it is kinda like how I have called Maylin our dog's name all day!!!)Holy cow. Wish I could have slept that long. What a girl. I think she has been going to bed late and getting up early for the past few weeks. Apparently, if finally caught up to her. We have been working in our yard. We had three new trees planted. I really like them. We planted the leafy red one in front of the window, the weeping pine by the fence and the little green tree pictured in the second picture on the right. Cool huh? Also, that is a picture of the girl that won the pageant. I didn't post the picture for her, but for the sunshine balloon tower behind her. I made two of those as part of the stage decoration! They turned out cute. The queen is cute to...

Happy Mother's Day

Mother's Day really isn't one of my most favorite holidays. I think I feel this way because my mom really didn't like it and I kind of feel kids should be nice all year round, not just on one day. Today, however, I tried to look at it differently. I didn't look at it that my kids were trying to be nice for one day, but that they were being nicer than normal. That seemed to help. I also tried to look it not as a day of expectations, but a day to celebrate those I love. It also made a difference this year as I really have been struggling with Austin being gone. I know I miss him, but I think most of it comes from the fact my family is changing. I am slowly loosing my kids. They are growing up so fast. This really made me sit back and enjoy just being a mom to such great kids. I didn't worry about how they were acting, how I felt about the day or if they were being on their best behavior. Yeah, I sound uptight....it was nice to let go a bit this year.  This little f...

Happy Pre-Mother's Day??

This morning, I was brushing my teeth before I had to leave to do the day of pageant stuff when Jay came up to me and said, "What's wrong with your hair? Let me look." He grabs my head and pulls it toward him. "Wow! You've got a huge white spot on the top of your head. Oh look here, you have a bald spot too!." Great. Happy Mother's Day.

Where do little kids get their material?

Kids say such funny things. Today I called my mom and dad. They weren't home so I left a message. Maylin heard me call them mom and dad. She said, "They aren't your mom and dad anymore. They are your grandparents." I told her they were my mom and dad always. She said, "Even when they are old, they are still your parents?" I said yes and when she is old and I am old, I will still be her mom. She said, "You'll be my mom even when you are dead?" Yep. Even when I am dead. Glad she is thinking in the future.

Having a nervous breakdown, but finding time to share some good ole stuff.

People, this past week has been out of control! First: I was supposed to run a 5K on Saturday, April 28. Alex and Jay were going to do it with me. Obviously, since Jay had knee surgery last week, he wasn't doing it. Then I found out just days ago that Alex had a camp out that day for scouts that he needed to go to for a merit badge.....I obviously was doing it alone. I got myself hyped to do it alone when on Friday night I went to the 5K check in and while walking into the building my SI joint (the thing that holds your hip and back in a nice straight, pain free positions) flipped out! Holy cow! With in minutes my left hip was going to the left, my head and shoulders were going to the right and I was hunched over like a 85 year old lady (sorry to my older readers.:) ). I was in horrible pain. No 5K for me. I spent the morning instead at the chiropractor. This really isn't what I needed. This is a picture Maylin took at my therapy appointment, not at the chiropracto...
