Alex was so excited for this season of basketball. He had his double knee surgery under his belt, he was in shape and it was his junior year! However, at his sports physical they found something wrong with his heart. Yes. You can only begin to imagine the fear we all had in this house hold. They thought he had a very rare heart defect that could cause him to die suddenly. They put him on restrictions....which meant no basketball until they could figure out what was wrong. We spent a lot of time with the transplant heart doctors at Primary Children's. I've never met with them...... But, that is what this heart defect leads to, a transplant. The doctor knew of Austin and had reviewed his charts before, so he was very kind to me understanding how hard it was to have two boys in the midst of such issues.
