It is so AWESOME to have him home. He was a little weird at first. For example, missionaries have to stand behind their car while their companion backs out. Austin backed us out for two weeks. He woke up at 6:30 for the first week. He couldn't be alone.....he was always looking for or missing his companion.
He still won't listen to any music that isn't church except for songs from Frozen.....Maylin introduced him! No TV still. He handed out pass-along cards to everyone and tried to have a talk to 20 different people a day. He still likes to eat at 7:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. He likes to have a schedule. He dresses up everyday. Not in a suit, but in nice pants and dress shirts. Sometimes he just blurts out, "Ugh! I miss my mission!" He was pretty quiet. He was thinking and contemplating his mission and what was next for him.
He is now finding things to do, settling on school and working. He even went on several dates with a girl who is home from her mission now, but served as a sister missionary in his zone. He is talking more and feeling like he belongs back at home. He is sharing more and more about his mission. At first, he was quiet about it. He said he was holding it dear, but now he is ready to share all the fun, happy, miraculous, hard experiences. He said he knows it is over now and he can share it. Before, he was afraid to share experiences thinking it would make it "real" that he was home.
His surgery is scheduled for February 19. It should be easy. Knock on wood......
We are loving it and the kids are enjoying having him back. He loves going to all their activities.
