Its wonderful to know great people!

In the last week we have spent some great times with some very wonderful people. I have been very grateful today for the people I know. Our lives are better because of the people in our lives. Some, we see more or talk to more (talk includes blog) than others, but no matter now much contact we have, we are better for it. Thanks to all who are in our lives and share our sorrows, our happiness, our giggles and our mistakes! The following are some pictures of those we have seen this week. I don't have pictures of our dinner with the Stanley family, but what a great visit we had. We renewed our spirits with our visit. What a wonderful family who truly lives by what they believe! They are such close, dear friends.

These are pictures of my niece and her darling boys. They live in Colorado and came for a visit. We had such a great day together. My older kids were at school and were sad they missed the visit. Maylin loved showing the boys around. My sweet niece brought everyone a gift. My favorite, because she made them by hand, were the aprons she made for my girls. The picture is of Maylin wearing hers and my niece modeling Kenzie's.

This picture is of my nephew who made a surprise visit! We were so thrilled. We have only seen him once this year. Maylin was taken with him.

This weekend we also had the Brown family over. We met them about a year and a half ago. We had just got home from China and they hadn't been home long either with their now nine year old daughter. We met at a bloggy bash that both of us were sort of randomly invited to. Funny how things work, for since then they adopted Kai who had to have heart surgery when he got home. He had Austin's same surgeon. It is a small world after all. We went to visit them and then when Austin had his surgery they brought books on tape, books and visited him at the hospital. It was good for both of us to have this support. It was fun to talk to them about our common adoptions and our common heart problems. Friends can be great support.

One of my favorite moments this weekend when they came to visit, was when the three girls, Pearl, Grace and Maylin were all swinging and one of the girls said, "Hey, we are all China girls" It warmed my heart. We had a great time. Austin and Kenzie and Alex loved Hillary and Maddie! We enjoyed Lee and Kim's company. It was a great evening.

We are meeting Emily and Nate (We went to China together) tomorrow! Our week will be complete!!!!

**Also if you are wondering about Maylin's face....she had a fall when the folding chair she was sitting in collapsed. She has a lovely goose egg on her head to match. Thank heavens for bangs!

Laurel,
You are right, great friends make all the difference. I think Heavenly Father puts people in our lives at the right times to show how he loves us. I know that has been true for us over here. Glad you had fun wtih the Stanley's and the Brown's. We love both of those families as we do you guys.
Laurel, how have you had time to post already?! I am a couple of posts behind, but I will try to catch up...I've got some pics to download first! I'll have to borrow the one of the girls that you have posted, I missed the photo session by the pond. And maybe the one of Kai and Maylin...I'll have to see what I was able to get on my camera.

We had such a fun time. The girls talked all the way home about how fun your kids were. Next time I think we should have something out here with the Christensen's and Bringhurst's as well. That will be a call-in to the sherrif for sure!

Love
Kim

Did I just hear that?

Today I was at W*lM*rt and I had the WEIRDEST experience. I can't wait to hear what you all have to say about it. I was at the self check out and the worker that handles those came over to Nini and put her hands on Nini's cheeks and literally put her nose against Nini's nose. Okay....don't know you, plus it is serious cold and flu season. I pulled the cart back quickly. The lady was talking to Nini and asking her how old she was and telling her how cute she is (she is that). Then she said to me, "where did you get her from?" That question threw me. I have been asked where she is from, what nationality she is, but never, "where did you get her from?" I said China, but was thinking, "does she think I got her from a store or something?" This was just the beginning of what was the MOST outrageous conversation I have ever been apart of. She asked me her name. I told her and she said, "Thank you! It makes me so happy to hear that name."...

Maylin's room

Here is an update on painting. The doors continue to be a nightmare. We don''t have doors on the girls bathroom and no doorknobs on any of the other doors. Hopefully next week. I love everything else. Many of you asked about the glaze in the kitchen. It is an oil based glaze that comes in black, white, brown. You roll it on with a small roller and then take it off with a rag, by blotting it. You can make it darker or lighter depending on how much you put on and how much you take off. Here are pictures of Maylin's room. I was scared to make a change with 2 colors, but I think I like it. I don't know if you can tell but on the pink paint it is a wash (first white swirly, then pink) with light white flowers like the top pink ones. I picked words to go around her room that may inspire her. The Chinese translation is underneath. Of course, we used Meng, that was her first name...Meng ni and they called her Nini. The words are in vinyl and the flowers were painted using a pa...

Happily ever after

NieNie Dialogues: April 15, 2019 Christian is the most important person in Stephanie's life. She made this post about him. She wrote about how much she loved him and he loved her. Every year she dedicates a song to him as they enter another year as husband and wife. She said, "Everyday I pray to God, thanking him for Christian. I thank God that he is my husband, my protector, and greatest defender. I thank God that Christian loves and respects me.......And I thank God that I will be with Christian forever and even to infinity and beyond." I am not married, but I related to this post because I love my dad. He is my protector and my provider. He really takes care of our family. He is so great. I can tell my mom loves him too. Even though it embarrasses me, I love to watch my parents hug and kiss. I am glad we are sealed together. After reading this post, I decided I needed to write in my journal characteristics I want in a husband. These are the things I wrote: Must l...
