We have been living in a complete and total mess for a week and a half. Every room has the furniture pushed up into the middle. My sewing machine is by my front door. I am really getting ready for things to be finished around here. Painters were supposed to finish the walls today so I could start moving things back tomorrow, but no luck. The head painter has a sick child, so they aren't coming. I understand a sick kid, I just have company arriving tomorrow since Thursday is Maylin's b-day and Friday is Kenzie's. There is no place to sit or even stand anymore. We have all been sleeping in the basement. We have three bedrooms down there so the six of us have enjoyed the close quarters. Okay, the first night was fun, but now I am ready to be in my own bed and with my hubby. Right now I have Maylin with me and Jay sleeps on the floor. The bed is too small for all 3 of us and when we tried her on the floor she kept rolling around and banging her head on this and that. Anyway, here is one room. Just imagine the rest.

Can you believe Maylin will be 3 tomorrow and Kenzie will be 13 on Friday? Wow. Time has flown by. Here are my two youngest playing Tinkerbell meets Santa. I didn't get the game, but they had fun.

Also, yesterday I was looking through my China trip scrapbooks. Maylin was looking too. She saw the Gotcha Day pictures and when she saw the picture of me and her together for the first time and she was crying she said, "I'm scared." I said yes you were, but you are happy now. She then looked at the picture of the nanny that brought her to us and asked if that was her "China mommy." Okay, that killed me. I told her no, that was just a lady that helped bring her to me. She was okay with all that, but I was amazed that she put that all together.
Food Storage tip of the day:
Store grains. They last forEVER. Really. Just don't store one kind. For example, just don't store wheat, your body will get tired of it and after awhile it is shown that people would rather die than eat wheat again. So store many different types! I store barley, millet, amaranth, quinoa, wheat, 9 grain cereal (which is yummy, plus can be used in breads)and oats. I have lots of great recipes for all and they are yummy. For example, I cook the barley and at the last 3 -4 minutes I throw in cut asparagus. When that is tender I drain the water and stir in some Balsamic Vinegar, salt, and pepper and add a bit of Parmesan cheese. My family loves it!!! Lots of good recipes for these grains on the Internet. Also you can grind any into flour and use in bread.
Another tip: I buy the 50 pound bags of grain and store them in the 5 to 6 gallon food storage buckets. Some I add oxygen packets too, but some I don't so that I can sprout them. If an oxygen packet is put in your grains, it will add to its life, but it will make it so you can't sprout and you may want to sprout if we can't get fresh veges, anything green will be appreciated.
