On our second day, we were able to move to a regular camp site. The boys got out early and picked us a beautiful spot by the bridge and the river. It was in a cul-de-sac so we were secluded, but with in a quick walk to bathrooms and our friends we met the day before. We hiked to Lower Calf Creek Falls in the morning. Our friends little boy came with us. He talked Maylin's ear off the WHOLE way! He was cute, but started to drive her crazy. His parents caught up with us toward the end and then we walked back with all of them. We had a great time. We saw HUGE beaver dams and tons of trees they had chewed down. There were also petroglyphs along the way and caves where the Indians would store their supplies. It was very interesting. The falls was beautiful and we enjoyed wading and eating snacks. Jay was hurting so bad he took off his shoes and waded in the cold water. He laid down too and we weren't sure if we would get him up again. I think the promise of a good lunch was the motivator. When we got back we had a great lunch and Jay took a nap. We pretty much wiped him out. We had a quick break and then went back out to hike again. We had so much fun cooking by the fire and just talking.
Today I was at W*lM*rt and I had the WEIRDEST experience. I can't wait to hear what you all have to say about it. I was at the self check out and the worker that handles those came over to Nini and put her hands on Nini's cheeks and literally put her nose against Nini's nose. Okay....don't know you, plus it is serious cold and flu season. I pulled the cart back quickly. The lady was talking to Nini and asking her how old she was and telling her how cute she is (she is that). Then she said to me, "where did you get her from?" That question threw me. I have been asked where she is from, what nationality she is, but never, "where did you get her from?" I said China, but was thinking, "does she think I got her from a store or something?" This was just the beginning of what was the MOST outrageous conversation I have ever been apart of. She asked me her name. I told her and she said, "Thank you! It makes me so happy to hear that name."...
