Back to the present: Natural Water Slide. Leaving the fear behind.

I love to do fun, amazing things with my kids during the summer. We have pretty much seen our state and our city, or so I thought. Last night, while on FB, one of my friends posted their adventure to the Alpine Water Slide. That was my clue that I had missed a hidden gem. I Googled it and found a great blog on the area. It gave advice and directions! So today, we loaded up. Luckily we have our cousins here from Texas so they were able to go on the adventure too. We even took Bailey the Dog. We drove 20 minutes. Found the No Trespassing sign......went under the gate, hey people no judging it is on public land you just have to go on private land for a bit.....and there were like 50 other people doing the same thing.

It was a mile hike. Then we found the most incredible God made water slide down the mountain. It was awesome. The granite rocks were so smooth and so slick!

Alex was the first to go down, of course. It is about 25 feet, I guess. The pool at the end is deep so you don't hurt yourself, but not too deep so you can still touch.

Here is Kenzie's turn.....she starts with thinking.....her normal routine.

Finally she goes and she enjoys it!

This is Skyler. He only went twice because he thought it was pretty cold. Alex was a sweetheart and caught him. That was a big help for Skyler. It is nice to have someone in the family who is big enough to take care of everyone! Thanks Alex for being our hero.

Maylin would have nothing to do with the waterfall, but she played in the water with the dog. She also made a friend and dropped our only towel int he stream.

This is Carson. Alex's best cousin. The boys enjoyed the slide the most and went down it the most.

The water was chilly, but to us natives it felt good.....way warmer than the river water we swam in just two days before in Idaho, but to our Texas family it was cold. Here is Kenzie in complete happiness.

There was a little side waterfall, Alex thought he would sit in to relax.

The hardest part of the waterslide was climbing up. This rock part was a little sketchy.

The second hardest part was being shocked by the chilly water.

I AM SO PROUD!!! I decided it looked so fun that I did it. This is a big deal since I am afraid of heights, afraid of water, afraid of getting my head wet and well, pretty much afraid of everything. However, I decided I was going to do it! Alex climbed up with me the first time and held my hand over some sketchy parts. He showed me the best path down theslide and he even gave me a little push. The only thing he would not do is catch me.......

Here we discuss the best path.

A moment of "Am I really doing this?"

Last minute words of encouragement.

A little push.......

It was cold, but not like I thought it would be. It was AWESOME!!!! I did it twice!

I may look like I am scared, but I was having fun. It does go pretty fast.

This is Savannah, the girl cousin. She had the funniest run of the afternoon. She flipped on her side and went in sideways, spraying all on lookers and their cameras and cell phones.

Here are some more pictures of me. I think they are funny and proof that I can BE BRAVE!!!

This actually was the hardest part.
I left feeling excited. It was great to do something fun and leave the fear behind. We had a great time. I am glad I got to share it with my family.

Did I just hear that?

Today I was at W*lM*rt and I had the WEIRDEST experience. I can't wait to hear what you all have to say about it. I was at the self check out and the worker that handles those came over to Nini and put her hands on Nini's cheeks and literally put her nose against Nini's nose. Okay....don't know you, plus it is serious cold and flu season. I pulled the cart back quickly. The lady was talking to Nini and asking her how old she was and telling her how cute she is (she is that). Then she said to me, "where did you get her from?" That question threw me. I have been asked where she is from, what nationality she is, but never, "where did you get her from?" I said China, but was thinking, "does she think I got her from a store or something?" This was just the beginning of what was the MOST outrageous conversation I have ever been apart of. She asked me her name. I told her and she said, "Thank you! It makes me so happy to hear that name."...

Maylin's room

Here is an update on painting. The doors continue to be a nightmare. We don''t have doors on the girls bathroom and no doorknobs on any of the other doors. Hopefully next week. I love everything else. Many of you asked about the glaze in the kitchen. It is an oil based glaze that comes in black, white, brown. You roll it on with a small roller and then take it off with a rag, by blotting it. You can make it darker or lighter depending on how much you put on and how much you take off. Here are pictures of Maylin's room. I was scared to make a change with 2 colors, but I think I like it. I don't know if you can tell but on the pink paint it is a wash (first white swirly, then pink) with light white flowers like the top pink ones. I picked words to go around her room that may inspire her. The Chinese translation is underneath. Of course, we used Meng, that was her first name...Meng ni and they called her Nini. The words are in vinyl and the flowers were painted using a pa...

Happily ever after

NieNie Dialogues: April 15, 2019 Christian is the most important person in Stephanie's life. She made this post about him. She wrote about how much she loved him and he loved her. Every year she dedicates a song to him as they enter another year as husband and wife. She said, "Everyday I pray to God, thanking him for Christian. I thank God that he is my husband, my protector, and greatest defender. I thank God that Christian loves and respects me.......And I thank God that I will be with Christian forever and even to infinity and beyond." I am not married, but I related to this post because I love my dad. He is my protector and my provider. He really takes care of our family. He is so great. I can tell my mom loves him too. Even though it embarrasses me, I love to watch my parents hug and kiss. I am glad we are sealed together. After reading this post, I decided I needed to write in my journal characteristics I want in a husband. These are the things I wrote: Must l...
