March 22 is Gotcha Day for Maylin. We got her 8 years ago tomorrow. Time has flown by. We took her to dinner tonight, since tomorrow is Sunday. She chose Costa Vida. She always gets their big sweet pork burrito, with pinto beans and she likes it smothered. She hate half tonight, but she has actually eaten the whole thing before. It was just Maylin, me and Jay tonight. It was fun to have one on one time.
We love her so much and enjoy her. I can't even imagine live without her. She is growing up so much. She has permanent teeth, thinks boys are cute, she still (since she was 1) loves fashion, layering clothes, lip gloss, wearing high heels, playing Barbies and American Girl doll and being with friends. She knows how to use an iPad and phone better than I do. She wants to do what's right. She loves her Heavenly Father and Jesus. She loves her family. Sometimes when her siblings cause her grief she will say otherwise. She misses Kenzie so much since she has left and loves it when she visits. She loves riding with her brothers to school everyday. Maylin loves girls days. We even did facials at a spa! She thought that was cool. She is a pleasure to be with.
She has done very well over the past 8 years. She did struggle with some adoption issues for the first couple of years, but we worked through them. They were easy things like hording food etc. She still has issues with me leaving her and she has to fall asleep with me by her. I don't know if that is an adoption issue or just her personality. My biological kids had funny things like that too. I can't believe she is 9 now! We are so blessed to have her in our world. We thank her birth parents for letting her be in our family. It must have been a great sacrifice, but we are so grateful they made that hard choice.
Getting her hair cut and styled. She told the lady she could only take off the dead ends and NO MORE!
She loves the rock wall at the gym. She gets better each time she goes.
We went to a car show. She loved all the fancy sports cars. This is a view into our future. Ugh......Tonight she said something so cute. We were driving to WalMart and she said, "WalMart is open 24/9." We said, you mean 7 because there are 7 days in a week. She said, "Oh! Now I get why we say that. I sure thought it was 9 though." On the drive home she had a question about plural and possessive. I was explaining that and she said, "Man, I have learned so much today! First 24/7 and now plural and possessive." She cracks us up.
