Fancy sandwiches, casts and dead chickens

This week has been a whirlwind. I swear I have been to more doctors lately than most of last year. Jay had something removed from his arm....its gross looking and don't know what it is yet, Kens had her cast put on (No surgery!!! Happy dance!) and Austin had a dermatology appointment. I kind felt bad for Maylin. I think she has sat in the car seat more than not. So, to make up for it today we had a tea party. We made fancy PB&J sandwiches, drank cocoa and had wafer cookies! It was so fun. She said her name was Sally and her honey's name was Joe. They had 20 kids. The oldest was 17 and the youngest was 2. She said she was from Idaho and all her kids had yellow hair. She said her hubby built houses and churches. We had a great time pretending. She then wanted to go to the mall and have a pretzel! I defiantly had to comply. Who could pass up her cuteness and a pretzel with cheddar cheese sauce!

Kens is enjoying her cast. I hate that I have to help her dress, do her contacts and hair. I hope she catches on to that soon. I don't mind it, understand, I just hate it when I don't do it "right". A 14 year old's expectations are very high. I remember the need to look good at that age and poor girl, has a mom that isn't to good at that kind of thing. She still is able to chat on the phone. At least it hasn't affected that activity.

Also, I tried a kick boxing class last night. I am S.O.R.E.everywhere! In fact, my hands are shaking as I type this...too much work for sore muscles I guess. It was fun. I am just not feeling how fun it was today.

Now. If you are squeamish DO NOT LOOK AT THE BELOW PICTURES!

We raised Cornish Game Hens. I don't know why I decided to do this. The kids want to raise them again...me, not so much. So they turned 3 months this week, so it was time to kill them. The boys killed them, cleaned them, de-feathered and skinned them and then passed them on to me for the final cleaning and freezer prep. They weigh about 5 pounds each. We have 10. It is good food storage and it was a good experience for the boys. They worked for hours in 18 degree weather. Still I don't know if we will do it again. Remember, there is blood and dead chickens so don't look at the below pictures if you are grossed out by that.

I love your te party with Maylin. You are a great mom! (I'm not telling Em though, she will be so jealous that Maylin's mom does things like that. Hope Kenzie's cast comes off soon and everything is ok. And I hope you can soon go someplace other than medical care.
Not so fond of your dead chickens! But hopefully they will make great meals:)

Ok, I swear you are the coolest mom ever!!! When my kids were younger I don't think I took enough time to just sit down and enjoy them. Once again you are my hero.
Kenz is rockin the cast! I love the colors.

I don't know how you allowed the boys to harvest {right word??} those hens. Ours are friends with names, I couldn't eat them. But now I know where to go if we are ever desperate. Plus, I've seen your big stash in the basement :)

You are one cool family!

About 10 years ago my brother in law the air traffic controller, decided he wanted to get pigs. They lived on an acre in Prescott, AZ. They named the pigs Peekaboo and Pete. They got full grown and their neighbors reported them to the city because they couldn't have livestock. So again my brother in law, city boy air traffic controller decided he would butcher the pigs himself. And he did, never having done it. Amazed me. Later that week I was up and noting my sisters dinner she made, and I complimented her on her meatballs and they said, no they are "Pete Balls". They were pork meatballs made from Pete the big. LOL!

Cornish game hens, sound good. They have to come from somewhere, you must have a huge freezer!

Did I ever tell you I got sick cooking a Cornish Game hen when I was pregnant with Adam and have never been able to even think about eating one again....maybe I could get over it on one of your huge ones!

Did I just hear that?

Today I was at W*lM*rt and I had the WEIRDEST experience. I can't wait to hear what you all have to say about it. I was at the self check out and the worker that handles those came over to Nini and put her hands on Nini's cheeks and literally put her nose against Nini's nose. Okay....don't know you, plus it is serious cold and flu season. I pulled the cart back quickly. The lady was talking to Nini and asking her how old she was and telling her how cute she is (she is that). Then she said to me, "where did you get her from?" That question threw me. I have been asked where she is from, what nationality she is, but never, "where did you get her from?" I said China, but was thinking, "does she think I got her from a store or something?" This was just the beginning of what was the MOST outrageous conversation I have ever been apart of. She asked me her name. I told her and she said, "Thank you! It makes me so happy to hear that name."...

Maylin's room

Here is an update on painting. The doors continue to be a nightmare. We don''t have doors on the girls bathroom and no doorknobs on any of the other doors. Hopefully next week. I love everything else. Many of you asked about the glaze in the kitchen. It is an oil based glaze that comes in black, white, brown. You roll it on with a small roller and then take it off with a rag, by blotting it. You can make it darker or lighter depending on how much you put on and how much you take off. Here are pictures of Maylin's room. I was scared to make a change with 2 colors, but I think I like it. I don't know if you can tell but on the pink paint it is a wash (first white swirly, then pink) with light white flowers like the top pink ones. I picked words to go around her room that may inspire her. The Chinese translation is underneath. Of course, we used Meng, that was her first name...Meng ni and they called her Nini. The words are in vinyl and the flowers were painted using a pa...

Happily ever after

NieNie Dialogues: April 15, 2019 Christian is the most important person in Stephanie's life. She made this post about him. She wrote about how much she loved him and he loved her. Every year she dedicates a song to him as they enter another year as husband and wife. She said, "Everyday I pray to God, thanking him for Christian. I thank God that he is my husband, my protector, and greatest defender. I thank God that Christian loves and respects me.......And I thank God that I will be with Christian forever and even to infinity and beyond." I am not married, but I related to this post because I love my dad. He is my protector and my provider. He really takes care of our family. He is so great. I can tell my mom loves him too. Even though it embarrasses me, I love to watch my parents hug and kiss. I am glad we are sealed together. After reading this post, I decided I needed to write in my journal characteristics I want in a husband. These are the things I wrote: Must l...
