25 years and we still like each other.

On January 27, it was our 25th wedding anniversary. That went by quickly, yet I feel like its been forever. We have had good times, hard times and I can say we have a better relationship now than we did in the beginning. Jay is the best. He is so kind, sweet, romantic, thoughtful and he does his best to help me around the house and with the kids. I love him.

On our anniversary he gave me these 8 dozen roses. He is so sweet. We also went to dinner at our favorite Indian restaurant called The Bombay House. We love the chicken Marsala and naan. We went and had a massage afterward.

So yummy. Besides our relationship we have changed. More wrinkles and more grey.

We really wanted to go away, but with basketball and kids and work, it didn't happen for awhile. Finally, in February we went downtown and spent a night. We stayed at the Grand American. They upgraded us to the penthouse for free. It was a great view even though I hate elevators and would have preferred a lower floor. Jay took me shopping and I got these cool shoes.

We had lunch at the California Pizza Kitchen. I had my favorite.....the Thai Pizza and Jay had the Club Pizza. Here is the view from the hotel. We even got a great balcony we could actually go out on. It was beautiful weather. It didn't seem like February in Utah. But then, this whole winter hasn't been normal.

Jay took me to a really fancy steak house so I got all dressed up. Dinner was incredible. The rolls were to die for. Jay had a steak and I had salmon. We looked at the cool window displays after and then went swimming and hot tubing. It was such a great relaxing night.

We had to try an anniversary selfie! We aren't too good at it. We are old, but it was fun to try. This is the best one. The others you could see up our noses or were missing the tops of our heads.

The hotel was all lit up. It was beautiful. They also had fresh baked cookies in the lobby. Before we went to bed, we sat in the lobby and listened to a jazz band they had playing while we ate a cookie.

These are the fun window displays. The one below is of the board game Monopoly.

This was clue. I was being all sneaky. We sent this picture to the kids.

This was the brunch the next morning. Seriously, we ate ourselves silly. These are just a few pictures of the many plates of food we ate. It was amazing. We were so tired after we ate and we didn't want to go home yet, so we sat in this great tea room on the couches and listened to live harp music. I think we both napped a bit.
It was great to sleep in, eat an great brunch and to top it all off we took a drive up the canyon and then headed home to the four things that make us a family.

Did I just hear that?

Today I was at W*lM*rt and I had the WEIRDEST experience. I can't wait to hear what you all have to say about it. I was at the self check out and the worker that handles those came over to Nini and put her hands on Nini's cheeks and literally put her nose against Nini's nose. Okay....don't know you, plus it is serious cold and flu season. I pulled the cart back quickly. The lady was talking to Nini and asking her how old she was and telling her how cute she is (she is that). Then she said to me, "where did you get her from?" That question threw me. I have been asked where she is from, what nationality she is, but never, "where did you get her from?" I said China, but was thinking, "does she think I got her from a store or something?" This was just the beginning of what was the MOST outrageous conversation I have ever been apart of. She asked me her name. I told her and she said, "Thank you! It makes me so happy to hear that name."...

Maylin's room

Here is an update on painting. The doors continue to be a nightmare. We don''t have doors on the girls bathroom and no doorknobs on any of the other doors. Hopefully next week. I love everything else. Many of you asked about the glaze in the kitchen. It is an oil based glaze that comes in black, white, brown. You roll it on with a small roller and then take it off with a rag, by blotting it. You can make it darker or lighter depending on how much you put on and how much you take off. Here are pictures of Maylin's room. I was scared to make a change with 2 colors, but I think I like it. I don't know if you can tell but on the pink paint it is a wash (first white swirly, then pink) with light white flowers like the top pink ones. I picked words to go around her room that may inspire her. The Chinese translation is underneath. Of course, we used Meng, that was her first name...Meng ni and they called her Nini. The words are in vinyl and the flowers were painted using a pa...

Happily ever after

NieNie Dialogues: April 15, 2019 Christian is the most important person in Stephanie's life. She made this post about him. She wrote about how much she loved him and he loved her. Every year she dedicates a song to him as they enter another year as husband and wife. She said, "Everyday I pray to God, thanking him for Christian. I thank God that he is my husband, my protector, and greatest defender. I thank God that Christian loves and respects me.......And I thank God that I will be with Christian forever and even to infinity and beyond." I am not married, but I related to this post because I love my dad. He is my protector and my provider. He really takes care of our family. He is so great. I can tell my mom loves him too. Even though it embarrasses me, I love to watch my parents hug and kiss. I am glad we are sealed together. After reading this post, I decided I needed to write in my journal characteristics I want in a husband. These are the things I wrote: Must l...
