A Million Smiles

It is so good to be a mother. I will not lie to you. It is hard. Very hard. Sometimes locking yourself in your room sounds terrific, but truly if you look at it all...it is great! Today Alex said, "I am sure glad we got Maylin." So am I. So glad my son feels the same way too. She has changed so much in the short 5 months we have had her. Today at Church she went to nursery during Sunday School. That is for 18 months to 3 years. They play, have a snack and a short lesson. She will be 18 months this week so I thought I would see how it would go. I stayed for an hour, then left for the last hour. She did great! That's with a capital G! Broke my heart. She is growing and it didn't help the crib came down yesterday. Where has my baby gone? Attached is a picture of her hair today. Spongy curlers are cool! She is so cute. Here are a few things to share that make us smile: 1)She is into taking off her clothes. Don't you remember a month ago she was putting extra clothes on? Well, now they are off and she doesn't care where we are. 2)She points to herself and says "Nini". She also points to the Chinese people she sees and says, "Nini". Hummmm, she knows what or who she looks like. 3)We ask her where is your eye, nose, leg, toes, ear, etc and she points. Then you ask her where her knee is. She points to her chest and says "Nini." LOL! Hey, she is close. Kinda like bear and bare and hair and hare. 4)She loves to put her head over the air conditioning vents. It makes her laugh to have her hair blown.

Also, included are pictures of Alex's fort that he has built in a little tree and across a ditch. Sigh, a ditch, but hey, I am letting him be a boy. My family that knows I am a big safety freak would be proud. I guess I should fess up that it only runs 3 inches deep. And I measured. He and his buddy built it themselves. He is so proud of it!

She is so cute. I am glad we got Nini, too. Hey, and let your boys be boys and enjoy it. That is what I miss the most, having my boys come in dirty and sweaty and HAPPY after a fun, fun day. I laugh when Rachel brings Crew in from an outside adventure and tells him he smells like "recess." Isn't that the truth!

Hey there! Before I even read your posting, I looked at the picture and thought, wow, Maylin is getting so big! But I'm realizing that about my nephew too, who will be a year old in a month. They sure grow up fast! We miss you guys! Hope school is going well Austin, Alex, and Kenzie! And cool fort, Alex!

Maylin looks so grown up and so beautiful. What a difference!! She is going to Nursery now huh? Probably really bittersweet feelings?? We hope it goes well but still want them with us. Hopefully she won't be taking all her clothes off in the nursery though! Alex's fort is cool. See you soon!

Love the curly hair!! did she mind keeping them in??
I can't believe how she has grown. She is as big as Miss Talicee. I can't believe that she is out of the crib already. Miss Talicee will be in there for a while. I did not realize that the girls where just 6 months apart. Miss Talicee will be 2 next month. (going on 22).

Did I just hear that?

Today I was at W*lM*rt and I had the WEIRDEST experience. I can't wait to hear what you all have to say about it. I was at the self check out and the worker that handles those came over to Nini and put her hands on Nini's cheeks and literally put her nose against Nini's nose. Okay....don't know you, plus it is serious cold and flu season. I pulled the cart back quickly. The lady was talking to Nini and asking her how old she was and telling her how cute she is (she is that). Then she said to me, "where did you get her from?" That question threw me. I have been asked where she is from, what nationality she is, but never, "where did you get her from?" I said China, but was thinking, "does she think I got her from a store or something?" This was just the beginning of what was the MOST outrageous conversation I have ever been apart of. She asked me her name. I told her and she said, "Thank you! It makes me so happy to hear that name."...

Maylin's room

Here is an update on painting. The doors continue to be a nightmare. We don''t have doors on the girls bathroom and no doorknobs on any of the other doors. Hopefully next week. I love everything else. Many of you asked about the glaze in the kitchen. It is an oil based glaze that comes in black, white, brown. You roll it on with a small roller and then take it off with a rag, by blotting it. You can make it darker or lighter depending on how much you put on and how much you take off. Here are pictures of Maylin's room. I was scared to make a change with 2 colors, but I think I like it. I don't know if you can tell but on the pink paint it is a wash (first white swirly, then pink) with light white flowers like the top pink ones. I picked words to go around her room that may inspire her. The Chinese translation is underneath. Of course, we used Meng, that was her first name...Meng ni and they called her Nini. The words are in vinyl and the flowers were painted using a pa...

Happily ever after

NieNie Dialogues: April 15, 2019 Christian is the most important person in Stephanie's life. She made this post about him. She wrote about how much she loved him and he loved her. Every year she dedicates a song to him as they enter another year as husband and wife. She said, "Everyday I pray to God, thanking him for Christian. I thank God that he is my husband, my protector, and greatest defender. I thank God that Christian loves and respects me.......And I thank God that I will be with Christian forever and even to infinity and beyond." I am not married, but I related to this post because I love my dad. He is my protector and my provider. He really takes care of our family. He is so great. I can tell my mom loves him too. Even though it embarrasses me, I love to watch my parents hug and kiss. I am glad we are sealed together. After reading this post, I decided I needed to write in my journal characteristics I want in a husband. These are the things I wrote: Must l...
