I love my baby.

The last couple of weeks have been stressful. Austin has been having trouble. We ended up in the ER. They couldn't find anything, but he is still having chest pain, left arm pain and other issues. We have had last minute science projects, over flowing toilets, a working around the clock dad, sicknesses (Kenzie, Maylin and me) and just some other crap that I really didn't need. Tonight while having a bath with Maylin and 8 Barbies and 1 GI Joe doll, I realized all that stuff doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is that I love my baby and my kids and my hubby. I looked at Maylin and just wanted to hug her. Not only because of the love I felt, but I was hoping that some of her simple joy and her carefree spirit would rub off on me! I need a bit of "carefreeness"...that is not a word, I know, but I hope you get what I mean.

Today, Maylin amazed me with her understanding. Someone asked us today if she was adopted. I answered yes and Maylin proceeded to say, "I am from China. My berf mom wrapped me in a special lellow banket and put me in a box. She left me by the orfandge. I stayed there until my mommy got me." Speechless. We have told her the story and showed her the pictures that we have, but I had no idea she really listened and got it. Wow.

Tonight in the tub, she cracked me up. She rubbed each Barbie down with soap and then rinsed it and then made me hold the clean ones. When she got to the GI Joe doll, she asked me his name. I told her and she said, "That can't be his name. That is a movie."

Then she took the boy doll and a girl doll and had them kiss! She said to me, "They are honeys. They kiss like you and dad cause you are honeys too."

She also told me "I am getting to be 4. You can't carry me anymore when I am 4. That makes me sad. Can we still take a tub when I am 4?"

To top it off, she tells me that someday she is going to marry a honey. Then she says, "I will live across the street from you. I will come over and say 'Hi. Its Maylin.' Even though I have a honey, I will still be your daughter."

Okay! See why she melted my heart. She broke the stress, even for a bit, and reminded me that life still can be simple and sweet.

Oh my goodness, Maylin's birth story in her own words? Wow! She is so sweet. I love that the blogs give us a place to record all these little moments. You're right...nothing matters but the love between us and our families.

I am so happy that she has brought the peace back into your life if even for a moment. Kids truly have a wonderful spirit about them and are still so close to the other side it never ceases to amaze me. No wonder our Savior admonish's us to become as little children. I think it is wonderful that she knows her story, and that she proudly tells it!

Beautiful truth coming from a wise four-year-old and her mother Good luck to Austin. We are thinking of him and praying for him.
I am always amazed at how our kids know their stories- by know I mean it's so deeply a part of them that they understand things that we would pass off as "oh, they were just babies". I have made Lifebooks for Pearl and Grace and they love to read and re-read their stories. I think verbalizing helps us all.

I'm so sorry to hear about Austin. He's been doing so well. I'll keep you all in my prayers.

Love

Did I just hear that?

Today I was at W*lM*rt and I had the WEIRDEST experience. I can't wait to hear what you all have to say about it. I was at the self check out and the worker that handles those came over to Nini and put her hands on Nini's cheeks and literally put her nose against Nini's nose. Okay....don't know you, plus it is serious cold and flu season. I pulled the cart back quickly. The lady was talking to Nini and asking her how old she was and telling her how cute she is (she is that). Then she said to me, "where did you get her from?" That question threw me. I have been asked where she is from, what nationality she is, but never, "where did you get her from?" I said China, but was thinking, "does she think I got her from a store or something?" This was just the beginning of what was the MOST outrageous conversation I have ever been apart of. She asked me her name. I told her and she said, "Thank you! It makes me so happy to hear that name."...

Maylin's room

Here is an update on painting. The doors continue to be a nightmare. We don''t have doors on the girls bathroom and no doorknobs on any of the other doors. Hopefully next week. I love everything else. Many of you asked about the glaze in the kitchen. It is an oil based glaze that comes in black, white, brown. You roll it on with a small roller and then take it off with a rag, by blotting it. You can make it darker or lighter depending on how much you put on and how much you take off. Here are pictures of Maylin's room. I was scared to make a change with 2 colors, but I think I like it. I don't know if you can tell but on the pink paint it is a wash (first white swirly, then pink) with light white flowers like the top pink ones. I picked words to go around her room that may inspire her. The Chinese translation is underneath. Of course, we used Meng, that was her first name...Meng ni and they called her Nini. The words are in vinyl and the flowers were painted using a pa...

Happily ever after

NieNie Dialogues: April 15, 2019 Christian is the most important person in Stephanie's life. She made this post about him. She wrote about how much she loved him and he loved her. Every year she dedicates a song to him as they enter another year as husband and wife. She said, "Everyday I pray to God, thanking him for Christian. I thank God that he is my husband, my protector, and greatest defender. I thank God that Christian loves and respects me.......And I thank God that I will be with Christian forever and even to infinity and beyond." I am not married, but I related to this post because I love my dad. He is my protector and my provider. He really takes care of our family. He is so great. I can tell my mom loves him too. Even though it embarrasses me, I love to watch my parents hug and kiss. I am glad we are sealed together. After reading this post, I decided I needed to write in my journal characteristics I want in a husband. These are the things I wrote: Must l...
